This classic Lylyan flaunts a field of prized pinkish-red dye, the
celebrated color made in a few villages including Sarouk, Lylyan, and
Hamadan. Inside of that beautiful field may be found fifteen complete
and three incomplete medallions. Weavers often add incomplete motifs in
a rug as a sign of humility, recognizing only God’s perfection. Woven
of South Caspian Lambs’ wool in fine Senneh knots.
Recently dusted,
hand-washed, lanolin applied, stain proofed, and moth proofed, in need
of some restoration.
Donated by Noor Oriental Rugs Inc. toward cancer research, AIDS
prevention and care, and educational causes.
