In the early twentieth-century Sarouks were all the rage in the American luxury market. This plush Sarouk dates from that time and displays all the classic characteristics of a Sarouk: deep pink dye and greenish florals. Most Sarouks imported to the United States in the early twentieth century were painted red to appeal to the tastes of that time. Noor Oriental Rugs, Inc. has a rare collection of untainted antique Sarouks, including this one. This rug is very distinct in that it features a very uncharacteristic black border—a frame that beautifully compliments its vibrant pink field.
