In the early
twentieth-century Sarouks were all the rage in the American luxury
market. This Sarouk dates from that time and displays all the classic
characteristics of a Sarouk: deep pink dye and greenish floral motifs.
Most Sarouks imported to the United States in the early twentieth
century were painted red to appeal to the tastes of that time. Noor
Oriental Rugs, Inc. has a rare collection of untainted antique Sarouks,
including this one. This particular Sarouk has a glorious florals in the
place of a medallion. Due to age, this rug has a slightly uneven pile.
